Consultation
Before you come for your appointment, I will speak to you on the phone or over a video call to go through the process and I will send you a health questionnaire and information about the treatment by email which you will need to fill and sign and submit so that they return to me. After a thorough medical history is checked, I will explain again what happens during the treatment now that we are together. Once we are both satisfied that you fully understand the treatment and aftercare, I will ensure that you have signed a consent form and I will take photos for your medical notes.
What to Expect
I have put these general pre-treatment instructions together to keep in mind before treatments to get the best possible outcome:
• Do not consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment (alcohol will increase the risk of bleeding).
• Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications for a period of 3-5 days before treatment. Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, garlic, feverfew, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.
• Please don’t use retinols and other active medical grade treatments for 5 days either side of treatments with Cat.
• Make sure you mention all your current medical and aesthetic treatments and any recent illnesses even if they are under control.
• Schedule your appointment at least 1 week prior to a special event which you may be attending such as a wedding or vacation particularly as temporary bruising and/or swelling may occur and need that time to settle.
• Reschedule your appointment if you have a cold sore, blemish, or rash, on your face.
• Be sure to have a good breakfast, including food and drink, before your procedure. This will decrease the chances of light-headedness during your treatment.
Am I Suitable
Please don’t book treatment within two weeks or travel abroad in case you need to be seen in clinic.
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients, hypersensitivity reaction to gram-positive bacterial proteins and lidocaine, infection, and bleeding disorder or have a history of keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring.
Common Side Effects
Most people can continue with normal activities without a need for down time no down time. You can expect your face to feel tight with some swelling and bruising at the injection sites. Other common side effects include redness, tenderness, pain, bleeding, itching, bumps, but this usually subsides after a few days.
Aftercare & Treatment FAQ's
Treat the skin gently by washing it with a gentle cleanser, cool water, and using only your hands to pat dry no earlier than 4 hours after treatment.
1. Avoid the sun after treatment: Stay out of the sun and it goes without saying to avoid the sunbed or the solarium. As a rule, you should reach for AlumierMD Clear Shield or Sheer Hydration whenever you are exposed to the sun or wherever the light is bright enough to cast a shadow, but especially for the first 2 weeks after treatment, to protect your healing skin from sun damage during the recovery process.
Always use a mechanical/mineral sun screen SPF40 such as AlumierMD Clear Shield or Sheer Hydration. Do not apply chemical sunscreen the same day as treatment. Only use approved physical defence sunscreen.
